Processes for transforming materials and information – which realize the life cycle of products from their design phase to their production, supply, until their eventual reuse or recycle – use technologies and physical systems, together with methods and tools for the design and management of transformation activities. The technological solutions – products, processes and network systems – more and more based on the research, shall respond to the increasing needs of competitiveness and global sustainability. As a consequence, it is necessary to study transformation processes related to industrial products, composed of both traditional and innovative materials and obtained by manufacturing systems, assembly systems, control stations, recycle plants, etc.; the mechanical and technological characteristics of transformed materials and the relationship of the obtained material characteristics with the process parameters; the methodologies and tools for designing processes, components and systems for transformation activities; the planning, the management and the control of manufacturing systems, assembly systems, control stations, recycle plants, etc.; the quality management and the environment sustainability.
